Dr. Adam Burkey, M.D.

Dr. Burkey was raised in Pennsylvania. He went to college in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts and attended Georgetown University Medical School. After medical school,  Dr. Burkey took two extra years to conduct laboratory research on neuroscientific mechanisms of pain. Notably funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Next he had the opportunity for a medical internship in New York City. Then, a three year residency in neurology at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Burkey eventually returned to Philadelphia to complete a fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. Burkey also obtained his master's degree in epidemiology, measuring pain and neuropathy in cancer patients.

Dr. Burkey spent more than seven years at Penn and then opened his own private practice.  In 2015, Dr. Burkey moved to the State of Washington and is the Managing Partner of Pain Care Physicians, PLLC and Medical Director of Anesis Spine & Pain Care. In addition, Dr. Burkey is the Vice-Chair of Pain & Palliative Care Section for the American Academy of Neurology and also on the Education Committee of the North American Neuromodulation Society.

Dr. Burkey's focus is to bring a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to the treatment of chronic pain that limits opioids and improves functional quality of life.

Dr. Marshall Bedder, M.D.

Dr. Bedder is a Canadian born and trained physician, and now a naturalized US citizen. He is an ABA boarded anesthesiologist with added qualifications in pain medicine and certification in addiction medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM). Dr. Bedder is the former head of the Pain Management Center at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) where he established an Anesthesia Pain Fellowship training program. He also helped to establish the hands-on workshops for implantable therapies, which are now the industry standard. Dr. Bedder continues to present extensively on pain management topics world-wide. Furthermore, he has published over 40 original journal articles, reviews and textbook chapters.

Dr. Bedder is a past Board member, Treasurer and President-Elect for the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS), and has served on the Editorial Board for the Journal Neuromodulation. He is also a current reviewer for the journals, Neuromodulation and Pain Medicine. He served as the pain medicine and anesthesia member for the Alaska and Washington Medicare carrier advisory committee (CAC). In addition to Dr. Bedder's various credentials, he served as Director of Anesthesia Services and as a Pain Fellowship Director for the Alaska Spine Institute in Anchorage, Alaska.

Dr Bedder relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2009 and was Director of Interventional Pain for Pacific Medical Centers (PacMed) in Seattle, WA.

He also serves as a Commander, Medical Corps, United States Navy (Reserve). He was most recently attached to the 4th Med BTN, 4th Marine Logistics Group, H&S Company as Officer in Charge (OIC) of two detachments at Joint Base Lewis McChord Washington. Dr. Bedder was also deployed as a Navy combat Anesthesiologist to the NATO Role 3 Hospital at Kandahar Airfield Afghanistan in 2014 and participated in over 250 combat casualty cases.

Dr Bedder joins Anesis Spine and Pain in 2017 to provide advanced technology solutions for chronic pain patients who have not had success in their individual therapies.

He practices in a patient centered approach using interdisciplinary involvement to achieve the best outcomes possible for each patient.

Dr. Ryan Burklund, M.D

Dr. Burklund grew up in Gilbert, Arizona and currently resides in Spokane, Washington with his wife and three boys. He attended Northern Arizona University for undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry, followed by The University of Arizona College of Medicine for Medical School. He completed his internship in internal medicine and residency in anesthesiology at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona.

Dr. Burklund recently completed a Pain Medicine fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire where he was trained in the most recent techniques in interventional pain management. He was also trained to utilize a multidisciplinary approach to personalized pain management in patients with a wide variety of pain syndromes. In addition, he is affiliated with American Society of Anesthesiologists, Washington State Society of Anesthesiologist, Spine Intervention Society, American Academy of Pain Medicine, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and North American Neuromodulation Society.

In his spare time, Dr. Burklund enjoys fly fishing, fine woodworking, playing sports with his three boys, camping, and hiking.

Dr. Xi Chen, M.D.

Dr. Xi Chen received her medical degree from Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, China with Summa Cum Laude.  Later she completed her PhD at the Queen’s University UK and post-doctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston. Dr. Chen focused on stem cell biology and gene therapy.

While working as an Anesthesiology resident at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Ohio, she developed a strong interest for pain management.  With this intention, she decided to dedicate her future career to this rapidly-growing field and completed a Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of Washington, Seattle. Furthermore, she has published 10 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Don Baumer, ARNP

Don Baumer graduated from Seattle University in 2013 with a Masters of Science in Nursing, and has been working as a pain management nurse practitioner since that time. In addition to his years of experience as a nurse practitioner, he is a member of the Academy of Integrative Pain Management, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and ARNP's United of Washington.

In his free time, Don enjoys cycling, hiking, camping, playing music, and spending time with his family.

Hannah Ng graduated with an MSN at Emory University. Furthermore, she has clinical experience in a variety of areas including family medicine, women's health, pediatrics, and urgent care. She is also a part of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

During her free time, Hannah likes to travel, play badminton, volleyball, and cook.

Amber Hanson, ARNP

Amber Hanson graduated from Gonzaga with a Masters of Science in Nursing in 2013.  Then, she worked as a Nurse Practitioner focusing on Nephrology until moving to Aneisis in July 2017.  She is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. 

In her free time Amber enjoys biking, camping, skiing, scuba diving, world traveling, and most of all spending time with her rescued Siberian huskies Kenai and Lakota.
