Jason Chang was born in Taipei, Taiwan, after his parents moved there from China. However, he has called Seattle home since the 1980s. He is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he earned both his Doctorate and Bachelor’s degrees in Nursing. He is a board-certified geriatrician with over 17 years of clinical experience across various settings, including perioperative anesthesia and medicine, primary care, mental health, and multiple acute care hospital wards. Prior to becoming a healthcare provider, he worked as a registered nurse at the Seattle Veterans Affairs inpatient oncology ward and later on a medical-surgical floor.
Dr. Chang joined Anesis Spine and Pain Care in 2025, believing his background could help alleviate pain and suffering for those in need. In addition to his role at Anesis, he continues to work in mental health, specializing in ketamine therapy for the treatment of various mood disorders, as well as at the Seattle Veterans Affairs perioperative anesthesia clinic. His approach to medicine is patient-centered and collaborative, involving both the patient and multidisciplinary teams. He believes that, in addition to addressing health problems at their source, a clinician’s approach to care should foster trust, empathy, and compassion in order to maximize health outcomes.
In his downtime, he enjoys consuming a healthy dose of cinema in all forms. He’s not entirely sedentary, as exercise is an essential part of his daily routine, and he prefers kickboxing or boxing for conditioning. Growing up, sports and martial arts were a significant part of his life and continue to play an integral role in maintaining his health and sense of balance. Counteracting his physical fitness efforts, he also enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes. Often, kitchen mishaps lead to culinary adventures at new restaurants. Before entering healthcare, he worked in his family’s restaurants. During college, he continued working as a server and bartender until beginning his journey into the medical field. In another lifetime, his dreams would have been to become a fighter pilot, an astronaut, or a race car driver.
